Good heavens. I just wanted to share this one thing with you:
MON MAY 6 - MAY DAY: CARNEDD OPEN DAY @ Ty Wilcox, Dunleavy Drive, CF110BA, Cardiff; 12:00-21:00
In case you haven’t heard, SHIFT has had to stop doing gigs in the space beneath the Capitol Centre. However, in an irony thick enough to clog an artery, the project (which is to say the space, the studios, the residents and the events) will resume at Ty Wilcox, a former Cardiff Council stronghold which retains many trappings of the late-noughties office-space experience, including some thirty odd breakout rooms for guaranteed operational excellence (one of which is dedicated to Yuri Gagarin)
Joining SHIFT in the building are experimental performance art collective tactileBOSCH, queer-run arts group Umbrella and Dyddiau Du, a community library and arts space project with a neurodivergent focus. Come on down to this open day and witness it for yourself. Collectively it’s known as Carnedd, who you can follow here on Instagram for more info, including some tips on how to reach the place if you’re without a car. In brief; the number 9 bus will take you most of the way there, and it’s only ten mins on foot from Cogan train station. If you’re a real header you can also cycle up the Taff trail
It has been very funny hearing from all of you who actually worked in this building. I am dizzy imagining the crap office drama that must have kept this place ticking over through the years; the heartbreak and betrayal, the daydreams of violent vengeance, the sheer spite of South Wales manifest. The page turns, the world churns
Here's a poster with a large list of names; these include residents, artists, performers, musicians, many of who will be bringing something along on the day. Expect sound, immersive performances, workshops, open studios, and there’s a Harvester over the road if you get bored

If you are a recording artist in Wales or from Wales making anything freaky, I’d love to hear your stuff, particularly if you’re from a group that traditionally lacks representation. You can email me at throughthenightwales@gmail.com
